We’re so excited to read your submission, and to help you to get published online. Before sending us your submission, please read the guidelines below.
If you submit an article/review to Views Heard you consent for the content of your submission and any further related materials to be published on our websites (www.viewsheard.com, www.viewsheard.org and www.viewsheard.co.uk and any apps available for use now or in the future, regardless of the device you are using), and agree that we may share your submission on our social media platforms to promote your work and draw attention to the websites’ content.
Please note we can only accept articles from those aged 18 or over, and it must be your own original content. We cannot accept works that are derivative/edits/or modifications of another.
We classify articles as a set of writing that provides information, this can be for example; history, travel, maths, science, culture, technology and much more.
Please make sure the article is well-researched, and that you use reputable sources. Please reference these sources.
These tend to be more hands-on and creative. Examples of how-to guides include; recipes, crafts, art, hobbies, how to help in your community etc.
This must be something you have tried and tested, and like all writing on Views Heard, it must be your own and not someone else’s or a derivative of another.
Made something? Don’t forget to include a step-by-step guide, ingredients/materials and the tools you used. Most importantly, please include images of what you’ve done so we can help show it off proudly to the world.
We love to hear your voice and so too will others. We currently want reviews in the following areas; books, films, TV series or music videos (please see below for details on ‘Artist reviews’). Please only review something you love, as our reviews are for recommendations only.
Not sure what to do a review on? Watch, read and listen to a variety of different works and see what glues you to your seat, or transports you away.
Film, TV and book – we like the occasional classic, but go mad for the more obscure. The reason being is that we want visitors to find something they’ve not seen, heard or read before.
For book reviews – if you can, please take a picture of the book you’re reviewing; we suggest either a background that fits with the story, or otherwise a plain backdrop. Please also inform us (where possible) of who designed/created the cover – this can normally be found on the back of the book, along with the ISBN, publisher and publication date, this helps others to buy books with the same design.
Music videos – we want the video to tell a story, perspective or to provide a new cinematic look. Not to mention the music must be good. If you want to, you can include other songs you like by the artist/band, and similar musicians to them. Have a look at our current publications for guidance. Make sure you include the URL where the music video is from, and that it’s posted by or on the official musician’s channel.
The term ‘artist’ in this section refers to any creator of original artistic content e.g. designers, illustrators, artists, photographers, sculptors, etc. We will only consider reviews that include an image of their work, and where you have obtained the artist’s permission to use their image(s). This permission must be submitted along with attribution details. Attribution details include; artist name(s), title and dates of the work(s), social media(s)/website link(s).
Want to share your creative mind? So do we! This is a new area we’re exploring – but drop us a line and see if we’re interested. At the moment we’re limiting it to works no more than 2,000 words in length, and nothing harmful in nature e.g. graphic sex or violence.
If you wish to include an image(s) with your submission it must be of high quality, relatable to the writing and have copyright permission. If it’s your own image(s) please state this when submitting, along with any attribution details; name(s), and if applicable; title of the image, date and any relevant links (website, social media).
If it’s not your image(s); please obtain permission from the original creator – let them know what you wish to use the image(s) for (e.g. Views Heard and a copy of the corresponding writing), and ask what attribution details they wish to include. Attribution details are the creator’s name(s), image title(s)and date(s) (if applicable), a link to their website(s)/social media account(s), and if obtained from a third party; the source of that image(s). Please provide proof of copyright permission and attribution details when you submit the image(s).
By sending us your submission for publication to Views Heard and without the inclusion of a suitable image – you consent for us to include an image of our choice. We will take great care to source an appropriate and appealing image to accompany your submission.
‘Suitable image’ – we determine a suitable image to be of high quality, relatable to the writing, and have copyright permission.
Should we need to contact third parties in regards to obtaining a suitable image for your article/review we may need to share the title of your work, summary and its topic area. We will not share the full content of your writing, or any personal identifying data such as your contact details.
We are always on the lookout for artists to partner with our submissions. If you’re interested in producing images for any of our articles/reviews/etc please register your interest by contacting us at hello@viewsheard.com along with up to five images that reflect your style. Please note that these images will not be used without your permission, and are only to guide us as to what works of writing are best suited for any future collaboration.
As we want this to be a collaborative partnership, we will send you a list of potential pieces to choose from, but in order to maintain the privacy of submissions, we cannot disclose the full submission, and will share only the title, summary and topic area.
Please only submit work that is your own original content. We regret that we cannot provide feedback for any images sent.
If you wish to include a YouTube video with your content, please ensure the share feature is showing, and that you use the original channel/producer/distributor/licenser/affiliated other. For example, the artist’s account, or for films/TV a production company, distributor or channel.
Please include the full URL of the video you wish to use.
When completing your submissions form you will be presented with a tick-box asking if you would like to receive feedback – please tick the box if you wish to receive this.
Please be aware that our feedback is intended to provide friendly, constructive help and is not a definitive statement of fact, and does not establish nor constitute legal or other professional advice. Feedback is only in the opinion of Views Heard. Views Heard cannot be held responsible for any damages arising in receiving feedback.
For sponsorship and advertising queries please contact us at hello@viewsheard.com Please do not send submissions to this address, for they will be deleted.
We do not consider articles of this type in order to avoid any content that could be deemed harmful. Why does this include fitness and health? That’s because it differs individually in experience, and what may work for someone could be unhelpful for someone else.
We regret that at this time we cannot offer payment for images, written work or any other material published at Views Heard. Any money we receive from donations, sponsorship, selected advertisers etc is donated to charities or placed back into our services in order to continue free feedback, editing support, and verification to ensure a safe and reputable site.
As a not-for-profit organisation we are committed to donating 7% of our income, after expenditure, to charities, and 93% into the running of Views Heard.
We review charities on a yearly basis, and try to support both humanitarian aid and environmentally directed charities. We welcome any contact from charities looking for support, and will evaluate on a case-by-case basis, thank you. Please contact us at hello@viewsheard.com
We can only reply to submissions that have requested feedback, or are being pursued further for publication purposes. We aim to respond as soon as possible, but due to submission numbers this can mean a delay of up to eight weeks. If you have not heard from us after this time, please send us an email at hello@viewsheard.com along with your name and email address so we may look further into this.
We appreciate the world is ever evolving, new information comes to light, and trends change. If you have already published with us but wish to make changes, please let us know. Submit any changes to hello@viewsheard.com and place in the subject line: ‘Re-editing: (followed by the title of your work).’ Any changes will be reviewed prior to publication amendments, following which you will be contacted.
Due to submission numbers please do not resubmit any submissions unless we request you to, thank you.
Attribution is important to us. If you feel any details are incorrect, or are the owner of the attributed material and would like it removed, please contact us. Please see our Terms of Use for more details on copyright.
